What Does window Mean
A window (from the Latin ventus ) is an opening left in a wall to allow light and ventilation. The windows are at a more or less elevated height from the ground and usually have glass so that, when they are closed, nothing from the outside can enter.
In general, the windows have blinds , which are small fixed or movable tables that make it possible to regulate the entry of light into the room. The window can be closed (that is, with the glass in such a way that no air enters from the outside), but with the blind raised to allow light to enter. The reverse situation can also occur, with a window open and the blind lowered (so that some air enters, but not light).
The window can also have curtains in the internal part of the room, which are fabrics that allow to isolate the light or protect the privacy of those who are inside the house.
There are multiple types of windows that we find in any building, whether private or public. Among those, the sliding ones, the guillotine ones, the fixed ones, the folding ones or the tilting ones stand out. All these types of windows are classified based on what their leaves are and their opening, however, we also have to point out that we can determine the types of windows based on the materials that have been used in their elaboration.
In this way, taking into account the last mentioned criterion, we would find the fact that there are windows made of steel, wood, aluminum or PVC. Polyvinyl chloride is the name behind these acronyms and it is a material that in recent years has achieved a significant demand in the construction area as it is characterized by offering better insulation not only thermal but also acoustic.
In addition to all the above, we cannot ignore the existence of a series of expressions that we use frequently and that use the term that we are now dealing with. It would be the case, for example, of the adverbial phrase “throw something out the window” with which it is determined that someone has missed a magnificent opportunity or that something has been wasted.
A phrase that can serve to understand the meaning of this expression would be the following: "Manuel has just thrown out the window his chances of going back to Laura, after he has shown his uncontrollable jealousy again."
On the other hand, each of the nostrils is called a window , while a membrane of the ear is known as an oval window .
Finally, a window is the visual area of a user interface on a computer , which presents a delimited space with content that can be handled independently of the rest of the screen. This use of the concept became popular from the Windows operating system ( “Windows” ), a software developed by the American company Microsoft whose main innovation was the inclusion of windows for file management.
