What Does Will Mean

Will (from the Latin voluntas ) is the power to direct one's own actions . It is a property of the personality that appeals to a kind of force to develop an action according to an expected result. The will generally involves the hope of future reward, as the person struggles to react to a current trend in pursuit of further benefit .

For example: "You have to have willpower to overcome an illness of this type" , "Please, put good will and try not to make more problems" , "I had to fire him for his ill will for teamwork . "
The will has motivated all kinds of philosophical debates since it is linked to what it is desired to do and to the understanding of the reasons why a subject chooses to do that. Therefore, the will is related to free will .

The will is also related to the power to choose of consciousness, feeling and action. Something chosen of its own free will is not compelled by an external impulse. A woman who resigns from her job because she was not satisfied with the conditions, is acting according to her will. On the other hand, a woman who leaves her job due to pressure from her husband, for example, is not respecting his will.
Another way of understanding the will has to do with the desire or the intentions to do something : “I have the will to resume my art studies” , “Many tell me to try again, but I no longer have the will” .
The will, on the other hand, can be someone's mandate or order : "My father's will was done and we bought the house" , "The coach decided to respect the will of the midfielder and did not summon him for the next game" .
Willpower and obesity
Willpower refers to an ability that human beings have to overcome those desires that can generate harmful consequences in our existence. The concept is often related to trying to stick to a weight loss diet .
The obesity is a problem that affects our societies dangerously and that has consequences which in many cases are extremely harmful. The reason that more and more people suffer from this disease is that in many the willpower is not fully active, so set a goal (decide to lose weight) and work hard to achieve it (strictly follow the diet that we have imposed ourselves) is an almost frustrated task before the beginning.

He assures that there are two ways to lose weight; one is the intense (an extreme discipline for which willpower is necessary) and a slow but sure (a discipline where patience plays a fundamental role, and where nothing happens if one day we break the diet rules).
The advice for a safe diet is to make small but direct changes that lead to a gradual overall change. There is no magic way to lose weight, however taking into account some aspects that you do to yourself can be of vital help to achieve it, some of those cited in that book are:
* Accept reality: Don't fool yourself; It is not true what some people say who do not eat anything and gain weight the same, whenever they gain kilos it is because they are ingesting more calories than they are burning. Given this, the first thing to do, before eating less, is to move more.
* Propose what is possible: Do not set goals that are known to be very difficult to achieve. It is preferable to take longer but achieve real results, than to lose a lot of weight at the beginning and then regain those kilos , by abandoning the diet.
