What Does uncle Mean
Uncle , a term derived from the Latin word thius , is a concept that is used, with respect to an individual, to refer to the sister or brother of his mother or father .
Let's suppose that Gerardo and Ana Laura are married and have a son named Bruno . Gerardo , in turn, has a brother named Miguel . Bruno's uncle , therefore, is Miguel (since this is his father's brother). If Miguel , in turn, is married to a woman , this would be Bruno's aunt .
It is possible to differentiate between the uncle of blood and the uncle in law . If we go back to our example, Miguel is Bruno's uncle . However, his wife would be the boy's political aunt: she would not have a consanguinity relationship with him, but her bond would be by affinity (established by legal means by having married Miguel ).
It should be noted that the notion of uncle is also often used to name, with respect to a subject, the cousin or cousin of his mother or father. Specifically, this relationship is called the second uncle . Great- uncle , on the other hand, is the brother of a person's grandfather .
In some countries , uncle is a colloquial term used to name an individual whose name is unknown or to refer to a colleague or friend . For example: “The owner of the bar is a very nice and nice guy” , “Don't waste any more time with that woman, man! Forget it and come have fun with us ” .
Rich uncle
Carl Barks , an artist who worked for Disney for a time , created in 1947 a character named Scrooge McDuck , known in Spanish-speaking countries by various names: Tío Rico, Rico McPato, Tío Gilito, Gilito McPato and even, Uncle Patilludo (with this last name he came to Argentina). With respect to the English term scrooge , used in the original version, we can translate it as " miser ", and this describes very well the way of being of this character; however, Barks also chose this word in homage to the character Ebenezer Scrooge, the memorable tightwad that Charles Dickens cast as the protagonist of his " A Christmas Carol ."
The breed on which the artist relied to create the image of Uncle Rico is the Peking Duck, which comes from the northwest of the homonymous Chinese city. Of course, in this case it is an anthropomorphic animal, that is, it has characteristics typical of human beings, such as the fact of walking upright or having arms and hands instead of wings. The character's origin is Scotland, which can best be appreciated by looking at the original language animations, as his accent clearly differs from that of his fellow adventurers.
Uncle Rico is the richest duck in the world, enough to own a safe several stories high , full of gold coins, in which he usually dove and swim for joy to celebrate his wealth . However, his most characteristic trait is greed, and he does not like to spend his money at all, but prefers to save indefinitely.
After a few years of experimentation, Barks defined Uncle Rico's final look, and his success made him a necessary character for the Disney universe. In 1952, for example, it already had its own magazine. In his stories , his three nephews and Donald also appear, who accompany him unconditionally. His television series, DuckTales , premiered in 1987 and was widely accepted. Among the countries that made their own translations of Tío Rico's stories are Spain, Chile, Mexico and Argentina, and this had a considerable impact on the names of the characters.
