What is ulna?

What Does ulna Mean

The ulna is a bone found in the forearm . It has an extensive body and two extremities, articulating with the radius and humerus in its upper part and with the carpus and radius in its lower part.

Slightly curved and with greater volume in its upper sector, the ulna - also known as ulna - has three faces. This bone is in the inner region of the forearm, while the radius is in the outer region.
This bone, together with the radius and humerus, develops the elbow joint . On the other hand, with the radius and the carpal bones it gives rise to the wrist joint.

The most common injuries to the ulna occur near the wrist. If a person falls and puts his hands to avoid hitting his head, the ulna will receive the stress of the impact and may fracture if the force exceeds its elastic resistance. This injury can occur in conjunction with others, such as radius fracture, wrist dislocation, elbow dislocation or distortion, and the so-called Colles fracture , among others that affect the bones of the forearm, wrist or hand.
Although it is very common for the ulna fracture to occur in older people, age is not an exclusive condition for this type of injury. There are several factors that can affect the characteristics of an ulna fracture, since two apparently equal accidents differ in the force of the impact , the angle of the blow, the age of the subjects, and so on. With regard to the type of fracture, it is possible to differentiate between coronoid, stress, avclusion, displaced, comminuted, incomplete and olecranon processes.
Broadly speaking, we can talk about two types of ulna fractures :
* stable : when the displacement of the bone fragments does not reach 30%. The so-called greenstick fracture also falls into this category , in which the cortex and the periosteum between the bones are not damaged (they are necessary to block rotation);
* unstable : when the displacement of the bone fragments does exceed 30% or they form an angle greater than 10 degrees. Another possibility is a fracture that affects the cortex between the bones. In this case there may be other injuries that accompany the picture, such as dislocation of the elbow and fracture of the radius.
The tendinitis is an injury that occurs when tendons are overuse. If we focus on the wrist joint, we can distinguish two kinds tendinitis posterior ulnar and ulnaris .

The ulnar anterior is a muscle found in the forearm, and its tendons of origin are in the humerus and ulna; the posterior, on the other hand, has its insertion tendon on the posterior aspect of the fifth metacarpal and the original one, on the lateral aspect of the ulna. Although the location of each injury is different, both are treated in similar ways.
The concept of cube (with an accent on the I and not on the U ), meanwhile, is used as a diminutive of cube . In general, the piece of ice used to cool a drink is called a cube . For example: “Do you want an ice cube? I think the wine is not very cold ” , “ I don't like drinking beer with cubes ” , “ I dropped a cube under the table and I couldn't find it, it must be melting on the floor ” .
Dehydrated and concentrated broth that is stored in cubes is also called a cube . There are vegetable bouillon cubes, chicken bouillon cubes, meat bouillon cubes and others.
