What Does sight Mean
The first thing we are going to do, before going fully into clarifying the meaning of the term view, is to determine its etymological origin. Specifically, we can say that it derives from Latin, specifically from “visus”, which can be translated as “seen” and that in turn emanates from the verb “videre” (to see).
The view is the sense that allows, through the light , perceiving bodies with eyes. It is one of the five senses of the human being along with taste , touch , smell and hearing .
When the rays of light reach the eyes , the sight can interpret them. The eyes are the organs that receive light impressions in the retinas and then are responsible for their transmission to the brain through the optic pathways. The process and the result of seeing can be named as a view or as a vision .
For example: "The reflection of the sun affected my sight and I ended up crashing" , "Since I was born I had poor eyesight, that's why I always used glasses" , "A blind man regained his sight thanks to the implantation of a chip" .
Among the animals that are considered to have the best eyesight are the Australian mantis prawn, eagle and felines. When it comes to night vision, however, it is established that the species that possess it best are hyenas, owls, owls and even some snakes.
The idea of vision is also used in reference to the possibility of having a great visual field or of appreciating something that is considered beautiful : “The watchman climbed the tower to have a better view” , “The view from the balcony is amazing : you can see the whole bay ” , “ From the viewpoint there is a privileged view ” .
The expression “Hasta la vista” , on the other hand, is used as a greeting and is linked to the possibility of a future meeting between two or more people : “Hasta la vista! I'll wait for you here next week, at this same time ” .
Phrases such as "at first glance" or "with the naked eye" allude to a superficial observation, which lacks depth : "The doctor said that, at first glance, there is no bone lesion" , "At first glance, I could say that the man committed suicide by throwing himself from his bedroom window into the void ” .
In the cinema we find films that use expressions like these in their titles. A clear example is the film "Hasta la vista", which was released in 2011 and is directed by Geoffrey Enthoven. It revolves around a group of young people with different disabilities and sick people who dream of going on an adventure together and without the company of anyone else. The objective of this trip is none other than to discover love and sex.
In addition, there is also the feature film "At first sight", which was presented in 1999 and which stars Val Kilmer and Mira Sorvino. It was directed by Irwin Winkler and tells the love story that is established between a blind masseur and an architect. A relationship that will be so strong that together they will do everything they can for him to regain his vision.
Finally, Vista is a version of the Windows operating system that Microsoft released in 2007 .
