What is sapience?

What Does sapience Mean

Before entering fully into the clarification of the meaning of the term wisdom, it is necessary and essential to undertake what is the mention of its etymological origin. Specifically, we can determine that it derives from Latin, from the sum of two differentiated parts: “sapiens”, which means “to know”, and the suffix “-ia”, which indicates “quality”.

The notion of wisdom is used as a synonym for wisdom . For example: "Over the years, the Argentine midfielder lost athletic ability, but he gained wisdom and today he understands the game better than anyone" , "I hope I have the necessary wisdom to run this company" , "Money does not buy wisdom . "
Wisdom can be acquired in different ways. In general, it is associated with the knowledge that is obtained with the experience . Take the case of a man who is dedicated to fishing. Whenever the weather conditions allow it, this person gets on his boat and goes out to explore a lake to catch fish. The man has been doing this activity for forty years: in this way, today he has the necessary wisdom to interpret signs of the weather and know when to embark and when to return; know, according to the color of the water, where the schools are; etc.

It is possible to develop wisdom, on the other hand, through study and training . If a woman studies Sociology at a university, attends conferences and talks on the subject and reads books by great sociologists in history, she will be forging her wisdom.
It is important to note that there is no exact or precise moment to determine when a person becomes wise (that is, they have enough wisdom to be considered as such). If we go back to one of the previous examples, there is not a day in which the fisherman suddenly learns everything and becomes an expert.
In addition to all the above, it is interesting to know that at the University of Valencia (Spain) there is a beautiful place that responds to the name of Capilla de la Sapiencia. In the 15th century, specifically in 1498, it was when the construction of this enclave, also known as the University Chapel, was carried out by Pere Compte.
Some time later, in the 18th century, more precisely in the year 1737, it was when Miguel Martínez rebuilt it. It must be said that it has a marked Baroque style, that it has become one of the most important spaces in the Valencian university, that it has small dimensions and that it has become the scene of countless acts of the type cultural during all these centuries.
All this without overlooking the fact that it has important paintings by artists such as Manuel Camarón Melía or Luis Planes and sculptures such as that of San Bruno, which is made by Ignacio Vergara. However, the most significant work and the one that gives the chapel its name is "La Virgen de la Sapiencia", by Nicolás Falco.
