What is ribbon?

What Does ribbon Mean

From the Latin laquĕus , a loop is a tie or knot of ribbons that is used as an ornament . Although cloth ribbons are the most common material for a bow, flexible metals or plastics can also be used.

The tie serves as ornamentation but also helps to tie or fix something . In a dress , fabric ties help to adjust certain parts of the garment. For example: "I am going to tie a waist tie so that the dress does not have so much ruffles" , "Adjust the neckline tie, unless you want to be the center of all eyes" , "The capeline tie came off and fell to the ground ” .

A bow can also be used as a hair ornament : "When I went to school, my mother always styled my hair with a beautiful red bow" , "Do you think this blue bow on my bangs looks good?" .
Another use of the bow is found in the assembly and decoration of packages : "I already bought the gift for Mother's Day: you take care of getting a bow and making the card" , "Thank you for the gift! I am going to open the package without disassembling the loop ” .
Certain ties have a symbolic use and represent support for a cause or tribute. It is common to wear a red ribbon as a symbol of the fight against AIDS and a black ribbon as a sign of mourning.
It must be emphasized, in addition to all the above, that there are a number of important distinctions in the world that come to be a link. A clear example of this is the Spanish Lazo de Dama de la Orden de Isabel la Católica, which is an emblem in the shape of a cross or a medal that is presented in silver or bronze.
With him comes to recognize the civil work that is carried out by a person, national of Spain or foreigner, in favor of the country itself or to improve its relations with others. It must be said that the origin of this decoration is in the 19th century, specifically in 1815, and that it was created by the then King Ferdinand VII with the aim of praising the attitude and loyalty towards the land of certain individuals.
The lasso is also a rope or leather market used by gauchos to tie or trap cattle, usually with the intention of vaccinating or marking them.
Likewise, it should be noted that in architecture the term loop is used to refer to a specific type of adornment that appears on the friezes.
Lazo, finally, can be used as a synonym for bond or union : “I have a very strong bond with Marta” , “The bond between father and son is indestructible” .
In addition to all the above, we would have to establish another series of terms or phrases that also resort to the use of the word tie:

• With the tie around the neck. It is an expression that is used colloquially to show that someone is in great trouble.

• Bond with someone. In this case, the meaning is none other than that one person has lured another with a series of deceptions.

• Throw the noose, which comes to express that someone has managed to dupe and "catch", sentimentally speaking, another.
