The word reversus came to our language as reversible , an adjective that refers to the possibility of something returning to its previous condition or to its previous state . The term reversible can be applied to that which can be reversed (turn around, go back). Suppose a famous painting is attacked by an unbalanced person who wishes to destroy it. If the damage were irreversible, however, there would be no way to restore it.

Computer science refers to reversible actions to describe everything that the user can undo while working with a specific application. Currently, all editing programs offer the possibility of canceling a variable number of actions, with certain exceptions, so that an error or a distraction does not waste hours and days of work; This feature is available in word processors, raster graphics editors such as Photoshop, 3D animation and modeling tools, and audio editors.
Some computer tools also allow the user to adjust the number of reversible actions per session, since this affects the use of RAM memory: the more actions that can be reversed, the greater the memory expenditure, and not all computers have the sufficient capacity so that this number is very high, especially when the type of document includes very heavy elements , such as graphics or audio recordings. In the field of chemistry , a reversible reaction is called the reaction whose products combine again to generate the reactants.
