What Does provincial Mean

Provincial is an adjective that allows to refer to what is linked to a province . The provinces, for their part, are administrative divisions that exist in some countries , equivalent to the departments or states of other nations.

For example: "The provincial government announced that it will invest two million pesos in the construction of a new hospital" , "This athlete holds the provincial high jump record" , "Provincial Route No. 8 is in unfortunate condition: circular for her it is a real danger ” .
The provincial, in short, is that which is part of a province. It can be said, at a general level, that the provinces enjoy a certain autonomy with respect to the central government of the state to which they belong.

There are, therefore, provincial governors who are the highest political authorities of the provinces. Each province, in turn, has its own legislative body for the preparation and modification of provincial laws . There are, therefore, provincial deputies and / or senators.
Take the case of the Province of Buenos Aires , the largest in Argentina. The provincial capital is the city of La Plata , where the provincial Executive Power functions .
The provincial Legislative Power , for its part, is made up of a Chamber of Senators (with 46 provincial senators ) and a Chamber of Deputies (in which 92 provincial deputies act ).
In Spain, for example, there are a total of 50 provinces, which are included within autonomous communities. Thus, we come across the fact that the autonomous community or region with the largest number of provinces is Castilla y León, with 9, and then there are others that only have one, as would be the case of the Community of Madrid or Asturias.
It is also important to know that each province has its provincial agencies and institutions that undertake both the government and its administration in many aspects. Thus, for example, the usual thing is that it has what has been called a Provincial Council. However, in some historical territories of the country the work of that institution is carried out by what is called the Provincial Council.
In the same way, there are numerous organizations, institutions and even banking entities that also use the adjective provincial. Thus, for example, we find both the Provincial Museum of Ciudad Real and the Provincial Library of Córdoba or the Provincial Bank.
The term provincial also appears in the names of various sites and organizations . Provincial Osorno , to cite one case, is the name of a Chilean club. The Hotel Provincial , for its part, is a hotel establishment in the city of Mar del Plata ( Argentina ).

Nor can we ignore the existence of a Canadian regional airline company called Provincial Airlines. It was founded in 1972 and is based at the San Juan de Terranova International Airport, which carries out just over 39,000 air operations a year. It offers both previously scheduled charter flights and ambulance and passenger services, without forgetting that, in the same way, it carries out cargo trips.
