What is movie?

What Does movie Mean

Film is a term that comes from the Latin pellicŭla and has various uses. Its most common meaning is linked to the cinematographic work that usually tells a story written or adapted by a screenwriter and whose staging depends on a director.

The film may have the participation of actors who play the different characters in the story or present cartoons using different types of techniques . It is important to keep in mind that the film is the work itself, regardless of its format and location (that is, a film can be screened in a movie theater or viewed on a television at home).
At a general level, it can be said that a traditional film is a sequence of photographic images that a camera takes and that are presented by a cinematographic projector. This device appeals to an image replacement speed that is greater than 18 frames per second, a characteristic that allows the human eye to create the illusion of continuity.

In this sense, it must be emphasized that those who are considered the fathers of cinema are the French Lumière brothers who in 1895 managed to use a camera to record the departure of the workers from a factory in the city of Lyon. That would be the beginning of an art that has become an indisputable part of our lives today.
A real industry is the one that exists on the films, emphasizing especially that the mecca of cinema is none other than the American Hollywood. A place where some of the most important productions in history have been created and where thousands of actors and actresses have appeared who have become true milestones.
Among these interpreters we could highlight Marilyn Monroe, Bette Davis, Cary Grant, Marlon Brando, Leonardo DiCaprio, George Clooney, Meryl Streep or Susan Sarandon, among many others.
In the case of the most important films in the history of cinema, based in this case on the well-known Oscars Awards, there are the following: "Titanic" (1997), "Ben-Hur" (1959), "The Lord of the Rings: the return of the King ”(2003),“ Gone with the wind ”(1939) or“ West side story ”(1961).
Nor could we overlook the most relevant filmmakers, those who have allowed us to enjoy great films today. Among the most significant are Billy Wilder, Steven Spielberg, Woody Allen, Luis Buñuel, Francis Ford Coppola, Charles Chaplin, Orson Welles, Alfred Hitchcock, Clint Eastwood, Federico Fellini, John Ford or George Lucas, among many others.
Film, on the other hand, is celluloid tape . For example: “I need to buy film for my camera” , “The film was stored in a very humid place and the images were damaged” .
Finally, film is a thin layer that covers some things , the thin and delicate skin and the web that is used to cover wounds : "The chocolate mouse was delicious, but an unpleasant film formed when stored in the refrigerator . "
