What is holy?

What Does holy Mean

The Latin term sanctus came to our language as a saint . This adjective allows to refer to the person who is devoid of all guilt and who is full of goodness . For example: “My husband is a saint: every time I return from work, he is waiting for me with dinner prepared” , “I congratulate you, your son behaved like a saint” , “I don't think Benito is a saint, but I don't think he's a bad person either . "

In the context of religion , saints are defined as people who stand out for their impeccable ethics or for maintaining a particular bond with a divinity . In this way, in a certain way, the saints are "elevated" above the rest of human beings.

In the case of Catholicism , the saints are declared by the Catholic Church . Each saint constitutes a moral model or a guide whose behavior must be followed or imitated by the faithful.
For an individual to be declared a saint, a process called canonization must take place . This name is linked to the fact that the saints are part of a canon (a list that lists the saints accepted by the Catholic Church ). Once a person has been canonized, the faithful can worship him and dedicate liturgical feasts to him.
The canonization is carried out by the Pope after analyzing if the subject in question had heroic virtues in terms of his Christian qualities or if he suffered, for his faith, a martyrdom. Also, the candidate must have performed at least two miracles .
Nor can we ignore that one of the best known and most successful television series of all time responded to the title of "El Santo." It was an American production, which aired during the 1960s and was the adaptation of a series of books with the same title. Those literary works had been written by the British Leslie Charteris and revolved around the figure of Simon Templar.
This was a most ingenious thief who received the nickname "El Santo", because the initials of his name in English coincided with the abbreviation of Santo: ST. But he was also called that because the crimes he committed had a certain solidarity side, he came to be a kind of Robin Hood, since what he did was steal from the corrupt, from great swindlers and thieves, from soulless people who became millionaires illegally, such as drugs or trafficking in women.
The actor Roger Moore was the one who gave life to that figure in the aforementioned series, which managed to become a milestone on the small screen both in the United States and in other countries. Later, in the decade of the 90s, exactly in 1997, the film adaptation of it was presented, which also came to be called "El Santo". The protagonist was represented by Val Kilmer, who also had the support of other actors of the stature of Elizabeth Shue.
