Meaning of Finish
This word, as an adjective, refers to those objects that are finished or their surface was perfectly made . Similarly, you can talk about those people or objects that have lost their strength, vigor, or popularity. As a masculine name , it is used to encompass all those touches or ornaments that are placed on certain objects to make them visually and aesthetically much more attractive, improving their overall appearance. Normally, this word is used in terms of the production of products whose appearance is important, such as cars, electronic devices, furniture, among other objects.
The finishes are also known as surface treatments, which are carried out in order to give a certain appearance or characteristics to the surface of any object . On some occasions, this step can make the product fall within the dimensions specified for it, and that they are not respected throughout the process. In addition to this, it is known that it is used to increase and control the hardness of the surface, decrease the adhesion it presents, improve the retention of lubricants, provide color and shine and increase mechanical resistance. Despite this, the idea of finishing as only a secondary process persists in the collective unconscious, intended simply to improve the appearance of the final product.
There are three types of surface treatment, mechanical (shot blasting, sandblasting , laser impacting, burnishing, explosive hardening and mechanical coating), thermal (annealing, quenching, tempering, aging and tempering) and coating or deposition of the material (thermal spraying, metallization or thermal projection with flame, vapor deposition, ion implantation , electrodeposition, electro-forming, immersion in molten metal bath).
