What Does Facebook Mean
Facebook is a social network created by Mark Zuckerberg while studying at Harvard University . Its objective was to design a space in which the students of said university could exchange fluent communication and share content in a simple way through the Internet . His project was so innovative that over time it became available to any user on the network.
It is important to note that the beginnings of Facebook were marked by a criminal act : for its creation, Zuckerberg hacked the database where the university students were registered; in fact, the managers denounced him and he was being studied by the justice for a time, until someone dropped the charges.
On the other hand, three people appeared who said they were part of the project together with Mark and denounced him for having stolen the license of this work, not much was known about it.
All these versions of history have been buried . It is possible that this way of covering up the truth is related to the immense possibilities that this service offered at first glance. Facebook has allowed the massification of communication on the Internet to unimagined limits and it is the project that has set the guidelines that every social network that wishes to irrevocably enter the network must follow.
Facebook was founded in 2004, however it took a few years to go public and it was only in 2007 that versions in Spanish, Portuguese, French, German and other languages began to be developed. It is worth mentioning that despite the widespread use of the service, most of the users live or reside in the United States . Currently it is estimated that the social network has more than 500 million users .
The operation of Facebook is similar to that of any other social network, although this sentence should be formulated the other way around, since this is the social network that sets the antecedents and the conditions that the others must meet.
There are two types of accounts on Facebook: those of any normal user and the one that companies can open . The former are totally free and allow fluid communication between real people; the latter are used to offer products or services and maintain close contact between companies and customers. In turn, there are free and paid versions in company accounts, the latter offering more features, allowing greater visibility to the relevant company.
If a person wants to open a personal page on Facebook, they must perform a series of steps. First, you must register with your first and last name and provide a contact email address, with which you can enter your account, once it is enabled.
Once the request is accepted, you can start publishing information on your profile, which will from then on be your personal space within the social network. You can upload texts, videos, photographs and any other type of digital file on your wall (from the English «wall»: the space in each member's profile) so that the people you want can see, share, comment or express What do you like. In these pages the content can be published or shared on a public (with all social network users) or private (only those who are part of the network of contacts or friends of the user ).
In turn, each user can create a personal page called a "group", where activities or events to be carried out by that person in a professional way are shown . These groups are usually visible for any Internet user to find, although only those who are part of it can participate by commenting or sharing the content.
Finally, it should be noted that Facebook also offers applications and games to members, becoming a platform that transcends social contact between friends. Some games are very popular and have millions of users, like FarmVille or Tower Bloxx , among others.
