What Does clarion Mean

The first thing to discover is the etymological origin of the term bugle. In this case, we can state that it is a word that derives from Latin, exactly from "clarus", which can be translated as "brilliant", "illustrious" or "famous".

A bugle is a metal wind instrument , which is similar to a trumpet , although smaller and with higher pitched sounds. It has a hemispherical mouthpiece, a bell-shaped pavilion and a mouthpiece similar to a cup.
There are bugles that have a valve to lower the tuning by a fourth. However, most bugles do not have valves. The most common tuning is in B flat .

In ancient times, the Romans had three kinds of bugles. Each one had its characteristics and was used for different purposes. At that time the clarion began to be used for calls by the cavalry and other military forces.
