What is breeze?

What Does breeze Mean

The notion of a breeze allows us to name a wind of low intensity : that is, it blows with little force. In everyday speech of some countries, precisely one of the synonyms of breeze is vientito . For example: "I love the evening breeze by the sea" , "It is hot, but luckily there is a very pleasant breeze" , "The breeze then turned into a gale" .

A kind of wind that is produced by the uneven heating of the relief through the action of the sun is also called a breeze . This causes different air masses to move vertically, generating an imbalance of pressure and voids. From this situation, other air masses are mobilized to fill the voids generated by the low pressure and thus restore balance.

In this framework, it is possible to distinguish between the sea breeze and the mountain and valley breeze . The sea breeze is produced by the different cooling and heating of the surface and the water . During the day, warm air rises due to the warming of the Earth, while cold air comes from the sea or large lakes to compensate. When the weather gets dark it becomes easier to tolerate, since you can see a stage in which the temperatures are equalized.
Throughout the night, the mechanism exposed in the previous paragraph is reversed, since the water is at a higher temperature despite the fact that the wind blows at a generally lower speed, because the differences are not so marked . An example known to many is the monsoons in the southwest of the Asian continent , which can be considered a sea and land breeze of great proportions, depending on the time of year.
When the Coriolis effect deflects sea breezes, it usually happens that they acquire a direction almost parallel to the coast; In addition, its winds are continuous and soft, at a speed that ranges between 2 and 7 meters per second. The Coriolis effect, on the other hand, is the one that we can appreciate when an object that is in motion in the radius of a constantly rotating disk tends to accelerate depending on the distance it is from the axis of rotation.
The mountain and valley breezes are produced in a similar way by the differences in temperature between the summits and the bottoms of the valleys. In this case, a considerable ascent takes place over the slopes exposed to sunlight throughout the day, while a decrease can be seen in the central area of the valley . When the end of the day arrives, just the opposite happens: the slopes no longer receive the sun's heat, and that is why the air descends from them by cooling towards the deepest part of the valley; This results in the air that is still warm there rises.

In the Chilean province of Cardenal Caro , which is located in the VI Region of the Liberator General Bernardo O'Higgins , there is a bay called Las Brisas , located between Matanzas and La Boca . Las Brisas , on the other hand, is a delegation that is part of the municipality of Manzanillo , in the Mexican state of Colima . In Uruguay , Brisas del Plata is a spa in the department of Colonia .
Finally, in a symbolic sense, there is talk of a breeze with respect to a current of change or something that refreshes : “The arrival of the Bulgarian striker was a breeze of fresh air for the Spanish club” , “This program brings a breeze to the downcast television local ” .
