What is augury?

What Does augury Mean

The etymology of augury takes us to the Latin language : augurium . An omen is a sign or a symptom of something future. The concept is also used to name a prediction , a prediction, or a forecast .

For example: "The presence of these birds is a good omen: I suppose we must be close to the coast" , "The omen of a complicated month for the local economy did not come true as there were no major shocks" , "The arrival of two new companies to the region bodes well ” .
The omens are usually forecasts made by specialists on future outlooks of a certain sector, field or industry. An economist, to cite one case, can cast a negative omen on the labor market by analyzing different indicators (such as the level of investment or current inflation).

At the time of the Roman Empire , there were priests known as augurs who were dedicated to making omens. It was an official position that was held for life.
These priests found omens in different types of signs: in meteorological conditions, in the behavior of animals , in extraordinary events, etc. Thus they gave good or bad omens to the rulers who consulted them.
In different corners of the world there are symbols or signs that are considered to express a bad omen. Thus, for example, in Japan there are several that exist in this sense, highlighting in a special way the following:

-If someone breaks a geta, which is the typical sandal of the country, it is considered that this indicates that he's going to have seven years of bad luck.

-When a person wakes up and realizes that he has slept with his belly in the air, this indicates that he may be the victim of an evil demon who comes to steal his navel. It may be "ridiculous", but it is the belief that exists.

-If someone proceeds to cut their nails at night, they should know that it means that they themselves or their parents are going to die.

-At night you should not whistle, because if you do, the omen is established that you are calling an evil being.

-Signing your thumb at a hearse is an omen of your own death.
Augurio , on the other hand, is a masculine name that has its origin in Latin. On January 20th is San Omen , in tribute to Augury of Tarragona . This man was a priest who, being a deacon, suffered terrible martyrdoms. By order of the emperors, he was persecuted and ended up being burned in an amphitheater.
It is established that the men called Augurio are characterized by being very emotional, by having an enormous sensitivity and by enjoying a stupendous capacity for intuition. Not to mention that they are reserved, that they tend to remain calm at all times and that, at times, they can show a certain self-centeredness.

They are very jealous of their privacy, they are characterized by being vulnerable and, as a rule, they are quite shy.
