What Does ad Mean
Advertisement is the act and consequence of advertising . This verb (announce), meanwhile, refers to making known some type of data or information . For example: “The president surprised with his announcement about the tax reform” , “The hiring of the new reinforcement is already confirmed: the club will make the official announcement tomorrow” , “Without any prior announcement, the company closed its downtown branch” .
The various units of the State , civil society organizations, commercial companies and other entities frequently carry advertisements to spread their news . In this way, when you want to inform the community of an event, announcements are made publicly. The mayor of a city, to cite one case, can call a press conference to announce the name of the new secretary of Tourism for the locality. In a similar sense, a non-governmental organization can organize an event in a square to announce the search for volunteers for a campaign.
It is important to note that although this concept also takes place in everyday life, outside the corporate or governmental sphere, in popular language we do not usually use the term advertisement in this context, but rather resort to others or even to constructions that allow us to express the same in a less formal way. For example, instead of saying "Carla has told us that she is moving" we would probably use the verb to tell or say "Carla has given us the news : she is moving . "
In ancient texts, especially those belonging to different religious beliefs, the meaning given to this term is "darker" than the current one, insofar as it takes on an omen , divination or prophecy tinge . The weight of the concept in these cases comes from its relation to impending events such as death or the arrival of a fatal plague, which a gifted person recounts as a warning, so that others can prepare and deal with them.
Also called advertisement is the medium that allows the transmission of a message for advertising purposes . In this case, advertisement is a term that is equivalent to advertising or, depending on the context, to propaganda .
Newspapers and magazines often feature display ads from their sponsors: companies pay the media to promote their products and services in such ads. On television, advertisements are audiovisual , while on radio they are aural . Finally, in digital publications, there may be graphic, audio, audiovisual or even interactive advertisements .
Advertisements have been necessary to sustain the media for decades, although the public does not always see their usefulness with the naked eye . Many times, users complain about this tactic, and today there are several ways to circumvent it to go directly to the content. However, there are millions of people who are actually interested in advertisements and decide to buy the products on display, and thus this monetary investment by companies is justified .
Nowadays it is very easy to publish ads to sell those items that we no longer use, to offer certain services such as private classes or specialized labor, or to rent a property. Thanks to competition, there are many platforms for this purpose, offering a free basic option. Users who want to improve the positioning of their ads, on the other hand, do have to pay, although these are not exaggerated sums.
Similarly, an advertisement can be used to request a service, repair a product, to find a job or a home. As can be seen, modernity has taken the meaning of the term advertisement to the limit, since in this case it does not seem so appropriate.
