Definition of Area

As with many, many terms, the term area has various meanings depending on the context in which it is used .

In a very general and recurring context , an area is called that space of land comprised between certain pre-established limits .
On the other hand, for geometry , an area will be the extension or surface comprised within a two-dimensional figure, which will be expressed in units of measurements called surface areas .
In another, totally different area, such as biogeography , the specific geographical area in which a certain species is registered or characterized by the presence of a certain species will be called an area .
Also, in the field of linguistics , the term area has a special participation , known as a linguistic area, since it is used to refer to that group of different languages ​​that through time and as a consequence of geographical proximity acquired some similarities in their grammatical or phonetic systems . In this case, it is not necessary or vitally important for the aforementioned languages ​​that belong to a linguistic area to have some kind of genetic relationship with each other , in fact, they may have very distant relationships.

Another context in which the term area is widely spread is that of sport , especially in football, since this is the name of that previously marked and delimited area that is located a few meters from the goal and in which, in the case Of the football that we mentioned, it is the most sensitive area of ​​all since, for example, if a foul is committed on the opponent there, it will be severely punished and as appropriate and according to the severity of the aforementioned, it can lead to a shot free at the goal of the rival area or materialize in a penalty.
